چکیده

This paper describes the estimation of ocean wave spectra with the maximum entropy method. This method is based on an autogressive model for the time series of sea surface elevation, and gives an all-pole estimate. The wave series are also prefiltered to introduce one zero in the spectral estimate. The methods are successfully applied to estimate the spectra of some typical wave series, requiring between 10 and 30 parameters. Our comparison with conventional spectral estimates also show that the new methods give good estimates of the spectral moments, that is important because the moments are parameters in a statistical description of the sea surface. The algorithms involved are well suited for realtime estimation of high-resolution wave spectra.

Estimation of kinematic source parameters and frequency independent shear wave quality factor around Bushehr

In this paper, the shear wave quality factor and source parameters in the near field are estimated by analyzing the acceleration data in Zagros region. Accelerograms recorded by Building and Houses Research Center strong ground motion network have been used. The data have been considered with the magnitude of 4.7 to 6.3 collected from 1999 to 2014. In this approach, the theoretical S-wave displ...

Maximum entropy estimation of directional wave spectra from an array of wave probes

A procedure for estimating directional wave spectra from an array of wave probes based on the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) is developed in the present paper. The MEM approach yields an angular spreading function at each frequency band consistent with the input crossspectral density matrix. The method is evaluated using numerical simulations of directional sea states. The MEM is also used to ana...

Extension of the Maximum Entropy Principle Method for Directional Wave Spectrum Estimation

This paper presents an extension of the maximum entropy principle method (MEP), named the extended MEP (EMEP), as a general and practical method for estimating directional wave spectra. Since the EMEP is formulated to consider errors in the cross-power spectra, it proves to be an accurate, reliable, and robust method against such errors. In addition, we also examine the EMEP using numerical sim...

Large Scale Experiments Data Analysis for Estimation of Hydrodynamic Force Coefficients Part 1: Time Domain Analysis

This paper describes various time-domain methods useful for analyzing the experimental data obtained from a circular cylinder force in terms of both wave and current for estimation of the drag and inertia coefficients applicable to the Morison’s equation. An additional approach, weighted least squares method is also introduced. A set of data obtained from experiments on heavily roughened circul...

A nonlinear mapping from dual−polarization SAR image spectra to Ocean wave spectra

It is well known that ocean waves are an important component of upper ocean dynamics. The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has been widely used to measure ocean surface wave spectra from space since the Seasat satellite was launched in 1978. Many papers have been published dealing with the imaging mechanism and retrieval methodology. Schuler and Lee proposed a method to improve the measurement of...
